Congratulations to all the winners, participants, and organizers of the 5th Annual Philippine Wrestling Showcase at Vallejo, California!

For the 5th Consecutive year, the Philippines Wrestling Showcase was held in Vallejo, CA by the Springstowne Wildcat Wrestling Academy. Vallejo's host team brought 30 competitors to the Middle School portion. Competitors came from outside the community as well, as the Wells family traveled from Sacramento where Kainoa Medina and Maylin Reyes of American Canyon returned to compete. Also in a bit of a homecoming, Kaitlin Cuevas, a former Springstowne Lady Wildcat, competed for North Hills Christian after recently transferring.

The event was kicked off by HMS teacher Teresa Sicat who led the singing of the Lupang Hinirang. Wrestlers of note were Justin Wells of Sacramento who led the boys side with 03 victories while Denise Feria of Springstowne won her 02 matches by pin in the girls division. Prior to the High School/Open division Jeremiah "Mr. Showcase" Esguerra was awarded a WAP gold medal for being the only 5-year competitor, as well as for his contribution promoting the HS-Open portion.

Following the award ceremony Jenni Wells of Sacramento and Vallejo's own Makayla Gueib-Lastrella delighted the crowd with our 1st ever elementary school exhibition. Both girls wrestled like Titans despite weighing less than 40 pounds. They were awarded medals by California USA National Team Member Shelly Avelino for their historic effort.

The High School/Open was topped numerically by American Canyon who brought the most wrestlers to the event, but solid talent also traveled from Daly City, Fairfield, Manteca and Pittsburgh as well. Jeremiah Esguerra tallied yet another victory to extend his record win total to 06 since the event was inaugurated, while Nikki Sumagang led the women's class with 02 victories on the evening.
